OBSERVATION CHAMBER / MVP

Vortex Flow Mixer

Add vortices, reverse spin, and watch particles twist into trails, pressure zones, and turbulent flow.

vortex Prototype

VORTEX FLOW MIXER

Add rotating centers, flip spin, switch sink and source behavior, and watch particle trails reveal a turbulent flow field.
OBSERVING
First observation Use ADD or click the canvas to place vortices, then switch PRESSURE, TRAIL, or VORTICITY to read the hidden flow.
VORTEX / SINK / SOURCE
vortices 2 / particles 900
OBS-000 / FLOW / 00:00

SYSTEM NOTE

Flow becomes readable where it starts to rotate.

This chamber is a visual approximation of vortex motion, sink/source flow, and particle traces. It is not a rigorous Navier-Stokes solver or engineering fluid simulation.

OBSERVATION POINTS

Spin, pull, push, mix.

  • ADD and canvas clicks place new vortex centers.
  • SPIN reverses rotation so neighboring vortices can fight or reinforce.
  • SINK and SOURCE turn a selected center into a pull or push in the flow.
  • TRAIL and VORTICITY make the difference from Flow Field Painter clear: the subject is rotation and turbulent mixing, not a general vector field.

SYSTEM NOTE

v(x,y) is a local velocity field. omega = partial v_y / partial x - partial v_x / partial y estimates vorticity, div v reads sink/source pull, and dx/dt = v(x,y) traces particles through the field.

OBSERVATION GUIDE

Touchpoints for Observation

Observe vortices pulling, pushing, and spinning particle trails into pressure zones, braided traces, and turbulent mixing.

  • Use ADD or canvas clicks to place vortices, SPIN to reverse rotation, SINK/SOURCE to switch pull and push behavior, and STIR to disturb the particle field.
  • FLOW is the cleanest view for direction; TRAIL and VORTICITY make mixing and rotation easier to read.
  • Neighboring vortices become interesting when their spins fight, pair, or stretch one shared trail field.

This is a visual approximation of vortex motion and particle tracing, not a rigorous Navier-Stokes solver or engineering fluid simulation.
