OBSERVATION CHAMBER / ACTIVE

Radiance Cascade Light Transport Field

Move one light source around fixed occluders and inspect hierarchical ray intervals, visible coverage, and sampling error in a deterministic 2D field.

light / transport Observation Model

LIGHT / HIERARCHICAL TRANSPORT

A light field crossed by fixed occluders

Trace one source through nested distance intervals and inspect which parts of the field remain visible.

READY

The pale cells are visible from the light. Warm blocks are fixed occluders. Focus the canvas, then use the arrow keys to move the light.

The field is ready. Move the light or change a sampling setting to trace it.

OBSERVATION CONTRACT

Transport geometry, not a GPU test

This is a deterministic CPU and Canvas 2D model. It does not benchmark hardware, render a physical room, or measure a visitor.

WHAT TO WATCH

Resolution changes the boundary

  • At low sampling, angular bins make the visible boundary look stepped and leave a larger leak proxy.
  • Raise Angular samples and watch the error proxy fall as the profile follows the occluder edges more closely.
  • Move the light around a block. The visible region and the cascade intervals change together.

MODEL NOTE

Nested ray intervals

Iₗ = [rₗ, 2rₗ], rₗ = 0.10 · 2ˡ

Each sampled angle tests the fixed occluders in every interval. The angular error proxy uses a 256-direction reference profile; it is a discretisation indicator, not a physical error bound.

OBSERVATION POLICY

This field runs a deterministic CPU and Canvas 2D transport model in your browser. Light position, occluders, calculations, and images are not uploaded. It does not benchmark hardware or measure people.
